Howdy from Belgium or dzień dobre !

Nice to see that the software made it abroad ...

Yes the install script is not yet compatible with Jessie, it took me by surprise that debian implemented systemd to replace initd on which the VMC server startup is based.

But fortunately for you we've solve that problem already.

For Jessie here it is

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/VMCserver.service

[Unit]
Description=VMC python server
After=syslog.target network.target

[Service]
Type=simple
User=root
WorkingDirectory=/home/pi/raspVMC-master
ExecStart=/home/pi/raspVMC-master/server.py
StandardOutput=syslog
StandardError=syslog

Restart=always

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

Then

sudo systemctl start VMCserver

to activate it.

The same goes for fhem

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/fhem.

[Unit]
Description=FHEM Perl Server
After=syslog.target network.target

[Service]
Type=forking
User=fhem
WorkingDirectory=/opt/fhem
ExecStart=/usr/bin/perl fhem.pl fhem.cfg

you may add to automatically restart when fhem dies but it's not indispensable.
Restart=always

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

then
sudo systemctl fhem start

starts it up.

Hi All, greetings from Poland!

root@garaz:~# /home/pi/raspVMC-master/server.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/home/pi/raspVMC-master/server.py", line 218, in <module>
CCserver.bind(CCserver_address)
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/socket.py", line 224, in meth
return getattr(self._sock,name)(*args)
socket.error: [Errno 98] Address already in usr

Does above mean that script has been already executed? If so, why there's no ttyVMC created? None of dedicated logfiles are created, except fhem logfile.
Indicates that the port for the CCEASE cannot be opened, it is actually missing from the VMC.ini config file sio it defaults to 10001, as you defined the server port to be on 10001 in the config file, it cannot open it, if you don't run webmin on port 10000 you can leave the server main port on it or use for example 10003 or define CCEASE on another port via the CCEASE section, as far as the 3 ports are different and not allocated to another process the SW will work.

[CCEASE] ; CCEASE/ComfoSense related informations
tty=/dev/ttyUSB2 ; address of the CCEASE/COMFOSENSE
port=10003 ; address of the dedicated port for CCEASE/COMFOSENSE

When you refer to the voltage of the VMC, normally TX should be powered (output) and RX (input) should be at ground level. But obviously TX of the VMC is RX of the CCEase.

Whatch out with the wiring of the 12 volts, this is only to power the Comfosense and should not be connected to the raspberry's interface.

Bon jour! Comment çava?
That's all of my French language You and sjauquet did a great job developing that piece of software. I wrote a message to Zehnder asking for any kind of interface which allows LAN integration they may have on offer but they didn't even bother themselve to answer it...

I'm really impressed with such a prompt reply, thanks very much.
Just to keep everything clean & tidy, shall I remove entry in /etc/inittab?

For a time being I'm out of home and I can connect to my raspberry over VPN. Due to the fact it is connected to my LAN through Wi-Fi dongle I experience, from time to time, some connectivity issues. And now I need to ask my wife to pull out the plug, haha. It seems that after certain inactivity period, wi-fi connection dies out. Have you seen something like that?
Anyway as soon as it is back online I will apply changes.

Which port is used to connect external applications? Server port, 10001 in my case?
[server]
bind =
port = 10001

I want to use Fibaro virtual device to monitor and control StorkAir. Maybe I'll buy NetAtmo as well...
One last question, can I use socat to make another serial port - RS485 (will be connected to UPS and used for remote monitoring) visible over LAN?

Cheers!

Bonjour

http://optimus.meleeisland.net/downl...ts/st232cn.pdf
il vous semble correct.

Surprise surprise ...

You can keep it there it's only used by initd which is not active in Jessie and will never be ...

Yes I have the same issue, resolution is not to my taste though, the Wifi does not reconnect automatically if dropped, a solution is to run a script that pings something and restart the network interface when ping does not succeed ...

I recently also noticed that the default route drops out on the raspberry with Wifi, this is mainly annoying for when you want to connect from the outside world (thorugh the internet router), solution: same ugly one as above.

Anyway as soon as it is back online I will apply changes.

Which port is used to connect external applications? Server port, 10001 in my case?
[server]

Yes you wired port 10001 to the clients

Fibaro, zWave, I have a zWave stick on my raspberry and drives the zWave stuff with FHEM. Monitor, I suppose like SebCbien you'd like to monitor the power used by the VMC ? If you haven't got any zwave device home, the fibaro central unit does not make a lot of sense, you'd be better off with fhem and the tablet UI display (it does look better then the default)

Cheers!
PS. I don't speak polish, just a few words (mainly bad ones) taught by friends

Thanks for that, that's what I thought so.
And in general, once I get everything up and running and connected to Fibaro HC2 I'm going to write a brief tutorial on http://forum.fibaro.com/index.php?/t...foair-zehnder/
to spread good news over the world.

Cool, I should put up a page somewhere for the users to post their installation ...

And thanks for reminding me that I need to write some pages up to document the thnigie

By the way, in the protocol there is a command to switch control to PC/CCEase, I haven't got the luxe version so on my VMC nothing happens when I change that value, maybe it controls the ports on the luxe card ???

Regarding Zwave, so far, I have 60+ devices installed at home and for VMC and UPS purpose I'm going to buy the second greenwave powernode - it's cheaper than 2x Fibaro wall plugs and you have 6 outlets.
Plan is to find or "develop" video gate and based on weather station (NetAtmo or maybe something based on raspPi) integrate garden watering - solenoids controlled by zwave switches.

Ok, I demand too much. Once again, thank you very much!

I have CCEase connected. You are saying that this settings may permanently enable RS232 port on WHR950 unit?
Let me straight the things out:
Serial connection is from StorkAir/VMC unit to -> raspPi and further to -> CCease. Server on RaspPi queues all the requests from i.e. CCease and Fhem or Fibaro virtual device/client and sends them down to StorkAir/VMC, am I right?
I can call myself advanced user but unfortunately not a programmer. Therefore I can only try to amend existing scripts and not to create them.
Therefore I rely on smart guys like you

One more thing, some more info about VMC units: http://zehnderamerica.com/installation-user-manuals/ Maybe you haven't seen this...

Heck it doesn't cost anything to ask, yes I do somewhere on the Wifi based machine, I'll see to it, and post it here.

Yes but it's pure speculation (in other words I may be completely wrong on that one).

You've got it right absolutely !

I'll check them out, thanks.

But Fhem starts up automatically on Jessie - installed via apt-get install so it does it by default...

Raspberry pi Wifi check

Got it from HERE

I found another script in python that looks good, but I haven't tested it, I will see to it next week or so and post the result.

These scripts can be a pain as they reset the Wifi and thus could potentially enter a loop that takes the connection up and down.

Ah, that's good, they must have added the systemd script in the meantime, as last week it was not the case ...

Could this https://raw.github.com/dweeber/WiFi_...ter/WiFi_Check be a solution??

Yes, the server constantly monitors the serial devices attached and takes whatever CPU available to do so (loop), but it does so at low priority so should another process need the CPU, it will relinquish it.

So although it show high load, it is actually load because it sits waiting for incoming messages.

Hi again,

I'd managed to connect to raspPi and added systemd script. I can execute/start it manually but after reboot it doesn't run automatically (no server.py running and ports aren't open).
Am I missing something?

BTW, I installed that Wi-Fi script and it seems it helps. I read that wicd also does the same job...

Noted, I think we did something else, can't recall what, but I'll check
